Video evidence chief Drees admits errors

According to Drees, Referee Christian Dingert was wrong after a hand game by Jerome Boateng in the 3:1 victory of FC Bavaria against Hannover 96. A clear hand play by Berlin’s Karim Rekik in the match against the VfB Stuttgart was not even checked by the video referee.

“We also think that this is a criminal hand play,” said Drees. The mistake was only noticed in the half-time, he explained and spoke of a “human error”. There was also no eleventh meter for a hand play by Dortmund Mario Gotze in Bremen. This judged Drees to be correct.

Basically, he could understand that the active ones had problems with the way the hand game is interpreted at the moment. After the season, he wanted to get together with coaches and players, among other things, in order to get closer and reach more acceptance.

The criteria, which are intended to make a deliberate hand play recognizable, are to be refined. Three made it clear, however, “The new changes will not go unanswered.”
