On the last day of the summer transfer window Ante Rebic left the football league Eintracht Frankfurt in early September and switched to AC Milan. But the attacker kept his time with the Hessians in good memory, especially because of former coach Niko Kovac.
“When I came to Eintracht Frankfurt, I changed a lot. This was due to one of the most important people in my football life: Niko Kovac. We talked a lot, he also helped me in my personal life,”said the 26-year-old in an interview with his new employer’s own television station”Milan TV”.
At the SGE, the offensive player between 2016 and 2018 worked with Kovac. Together they won the DFB Cup. When Kovac changed to FC Bayern after this title, the paths parted. Rebic remained with the procession for another year.
This summer, however, he forced a change to Milan. Rebic was not always fair. Because of his performance, he “dismissed the national player with one kick in the ass”, joked SGE Sports Board Fredi Bobic.
“I want to show Milan that I am better now”
The Croatian wanted to take the chance in Series A but he absolutely wanted to take the chance, he explains: “At the moment, When I heard of the Rossoneri’s interest, I called my father. He immediately said that I should agree.”
For two years, the 78-time federal league player is now first lent to the Milanese. With his new club, the vice-world champion of 2018 has a great goal:”I want to show Milan that I am better now than when I first came to Italy and that I deserve to be here and represent the Rossoneri.”
Between 2013 and 2016 the right foot already kicked for AC Florence and Hellas Verona in Italy. His return to Series A did not go as hoped until now. For Milan Rebic was in only two games on the lawn and just collected 52 minutes of bet.
