AlphaTauri plans five test days in Imola

AlphaTauri wants to prepare Rookie Yuki Tsunoda for his debut season in Formula 1 and therefore plans to hold a total of five test days in a 2018er car before the official winter tests 2021. These tests of the Red Bull Junior Team are to take place in Imola.

According to information from Motorsport-Total.com”AlphaTauri plans two separate test sessions in Imola. The first two test days will therefore be held as early as next week, on the 27th and 28th of January. Tsunoda is expected to complete a few rounds in a 2018er car.

Pierre Gasly could also jump a few kilometers in the older Boliden to get back on the road after the winter break. The team also plans a second test session from 23rd to 25th February. This intensive preparation for the new season is due to the fact that the official Formula One winter tests in Bahrain were reduced to just three days for cost reasons. The rules also allow each team two additional film days with the current car.

These tests are limited to a maximum of 100 kilometers per day, and the racing stations must use special demo tires. Already last year AlphaTauri jumped with Tsunoda in Imola with an older Boliden more than 350 kilometers. During the Young Driver test in Abu Dhabi, he also took his place in the AT01.

The new Boliden of the Red Bull Junior Team could be tested by the Japanese before the official test runs begin. Particularly the aerodynamics have been changed for the transition year, partly because restrictions on the floor have been tightened.

Observers also assume t hat the new Bolide from Faenza will have a narrower nose, the team has used development tokens in this area. However, the team has decided to take over the entire rear of the RB16, which according to the rules would have been possible.
